Welcome to Keystone Hts. Online

This is where you can keep in touch or find out what is happening in our town and the local surroundings, in this forgotten, four county, corner of the world. If you have something to contribute, just register and write away. If the post is newsworthy or important to the residents in the area, it will get published. Write about any public events or happenings in the region. Write about the entertainment, local restaurants, bars, businesses, etc., you get the idea. If someone deserves the spotlight, this is the place for that.

There is a forum where different topics can be started and ideas tossed around. This site has a classified ads section, where you can post your items for sale. Again, you will need to register to take part. If you have an event you would like to see on the Calendar of Events, just send an email.

Time-Lapse Video From the ISS Features Well Lit, Night Side, of Earth

It was about time NASA provided some fantastic pictures of Earth, from space, that gives an idea of what the astronauts see and experience. The following 5 minute video was put together from pictures taken in sequence, using special equipment, and edited by Michael Konig. This is  the next best thing to being in orbit, yourself. See the auroras like you've never seen - from space! Lightning flashes from space are clearly seen. Some places are clearly recognizable, like the shape of Italy and the Mediterranean Sea region, for the others, look below the player for the list. The crew aboard the International Space Station, on expeditions 28 & 29, took these sequences of pictures, between August and October, 2011, at an approximate altitude of 240 miles. This is too long for Ellen to show on-air, in all its spectacular glory. Be amazed.

Orange Park Community Theatre  Production Runs For Next 3 Weeks In November

It's not often that I get a chance to make it out to a play, but I did just that last week, for the latest production from the Orange Park Community Theatre. This comedy was written by Katherine DiSavino and directed by Barbara Wells and had the patrons in stitches with the well delivered lines, as well as, with the design of the set.

Orange Park Theatre Cast of Nana's Naughty Knickers Nov. 2011The play centers around two senior women, Sylvia Charles, AKA Nana (Brenda Cohn) and Vera Walters (Susan Carcaba). Nana has a pass-time of making and selling sexy lingerie from her apartment. Her landlord (Ray Chute) agreed (not willingly), long ago to reduced rent for her. He dreams of being able to, one day, get the full rent he knows the place is worth and is looking for any reason to evict her. The old apartment was designed by an architect, who ran a speak-easy during Prohibition, with many secret, hiding places, that Nana now hides her wares in. When Nana's granddaughter, Bridget Charles (Elise T. Carlson) and a law student, moves in, it doesn't take long before she finds the goods on Nana. She then becomes worried about the legalities - like zoning, licenses, taxes, income tax, reduced-rent status and then, becomes scared that she could face jail time, if caught. Throw in Bridget's, admiring, cop friend, Tom O’Grady (Jimmy Carter), making unexpected house calls, the stage is set for a hilarious, fun, time. When a hot vixen, Heather VanPree (Janice Alston) shows up to pick-up a mis-delivery, mayhem and more hilarity follow. Just when things are looking bad for the women and the landlord is seeing dollar signs, his wife (Carol Waters) enters the chaos. You will have to see this show, to find out what happens next. Also featured, were Kyle Harmon and Dave Quirk, as the delivery men.

All of the players (and those behind the scenes) did an outstanding job of giving their roles, the character needed to develop the setting and be very funny. The performance dates for November are the 4th , 5th, 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th, at 8pm, with a matinee performance on the 6th and 13th, at 3pm. Looking for something really different to do this weekend in Clay County? Then head out to the Orange Park Community Theatre, and see a live show, starring your community neighbors. Tickets are $15 for general admission. The location is 2900 Moody Ave, Orange Park. Call them for reservations, information about helping or supporting, at (904) 276-2599 or visit their website here.

NEXT WEEKEND ONLY - FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT

They're back. Next weekend, October 21st and 22nd, 2011. Stan, Tom, Jerome and Bill, don't get to this part of the world very often, and when they do, you have got to jump at the chance to party with these guys. They put a lot of energy into everything they perform, recreating the way it was originally meant to sound, or in some cases, changing the arrangement and creating a new style, that is truly their own. These guys also put on a good show, one that is better seen to appreciate. If you've never seen anyone use a power tool to play an instrument, you don't want to miss them.

From rock ballads to love songs, if it is a rock and roll classic, Evil Monkey performs it, and performs it the way you remember it. You can expect to hear music from groups like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Skynyrd, Blackfoot, you get the picture. Plugged-in rock. Played real loud. Times are good. Show starts at 9pm, both nights.

Special thanks to the Smith Lake Bar for bringing these guys back, again.

Visit Evil Monkey's Myspace site here. See their schedule for other locations and dates to catch them.
